Oliver Brewery Scores “Best in Show” and Two “Best in Class” at Okanagan Fest of Ale

On April 15, 2023, Firehall Brewery of Oliver, British Columbia was awarded three awards at the Okanagan Fest of Ale (OFOA): “Best in Class” for the Stoked Ember Ale, “Best in Class” for the "Mutual Aid" Whisky Barrel Stout, and also “Best in Show” for the Mutual Aid! The OFOA awards were adjudicated by nine professional beer judges, across nearly 100 beers from other participating vendors.

The Mutual Aid, a collaboration with Oliver’s Dubh Glas Distillery, sold out in March, but the base beer that went into the Dubh Glas barrels was the Holy Smoke Stout, which is available year-round at private liquor stores and licensees in the Okanagan, along with the Stoked Ember Ale that also scored an award. Firehall Brewery is a small, family-run craft brewery that has been operating in Canada’s Wine Capital since 2011, titled as the “Beer of Wine Country.” The on-site tasting room, pub, store and concert venue is located on the lower level of Oliver’s “Old Firehall” on Main Street, downstairs below Pappa’s Firehall Bistro on the highway level.
