Stephænie has been making music for over 30 years. An avid writer and multi-instrumentalist, her performance work began at the age of 15 and has spanned a variety of genres, from electronic noise to intimate acoustic. Her music acts are defined by riveting descants and vocal combinations. Her strong poetic lyrics have often been compared to those of Patti Smith.

Stephænie’s biggest musical inspirations come low ranged female vocalists such as Sharon Van Etten and Cat Power; ambient dream pop and psych rock genres; and the harrowing lyrics and tones of Radiohead. Stephanie’s favorite place to write music is under the summer stars with the crickets, or while sinking into the couch.

Stephænie has a diverse background in folk, country, psych, synth and rock music. She has written for and been frontperson for traditional folk band “Great Lonely Wild” [Traditional, ancestral and unceded Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), Stó:lō, Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) and xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) Territories, Vancouver, BC] and dream-rock band “yarrows” [Traditional, ancestral and unceded Syilx Territories, Penticton, BC].

Stephænie, with currently active band yarrows, has recently released their first full length album entitled “Stardust Motor Inn”. The album title is a nod to the late Penticton Motel and to the paradoxes of the rural BC city, which comes alive with Summer vacationers in beachside motels, and yet remains in cyclical alienation and disparity with the lack of stability for locals.
