About the Event
Some of you may remember Coffee Jim, some of you may have only heard the legends. He was our friend, customer, and (spoiler alert) coffee supplier. Jim sold coffee for Oughtred Coffee (more recently renamed Tug 6) around here for years, for us going back as far as 2003 when the Old Firehall was renovated and transformed into the Toasted Oak Wine Bar & Grill (in Pappa's Firehall Bistro's current space). Coffee Jim was born in Oklahoma and spent his childhood living in many places all over the world, places like Iran, and Venezuela, wherever his father was assigned to build oil rigs. His passion for music was well known, with a supernatural memory for music trivia. But he also had a passion for classic guitars and audio equipment, as well as local geology. Before our Stoked Ember Ale was his go-to beer, he liked our Backdraft Blonde, and would request salt to put in it, an old habit from when he lived in Jamaica. He also used to help us get beer delivered to places he'd be delivering coffee too, like Big White. He was a great guy to shoot the shit with, and absolutely worth an evening to cheers to next Wednesday! We will be tapping a cask ale for a toast in his memory (unfortunately not a coffee beer!), and enjoying some of his favourite music. See you there!
